We traveled by bus for more than 4 hours from Goyang to Gurye. We stayed at a traditional Korean house. It was dark although the owner has turned the lights on. Ground was uneven from parking lot.
It is tatami room. We all take shoes off.
Ceiling is low. Door frames are short. We have to bend going from room to room although I am medium height among Asian. There is a large window at the back side of the room.
Kitchen.
Short dinning table can be moved to the tatami room when needed.
Bathroom has been remodeled. There is a shower inside.
We arrived closed to midnight. It has been a long day. I am not used to sleep on such hard surface so I have put 3 layers under. The floor is heated. We had a good night sleep.
We woke up next morning and looked. Wow! This house is really something! It has so much history. The owner said he is the 5th generation.
This is where they heat the floor.
Owner lives in this house.
This must be a very rich family over 200 years ago. They have built many houses along the small hill. The buildings are similar to Chinese traditional lay out. 3 yards.
Front court yard. It is also remodeled as guest houses.
We stayed in the middle and the largest courtyard. The owner’s house and another two large building are here.
Back courtyard. The buildings are converted to guest houses too.
I love these bamboo! There are houses on the hill too.
Peonies are in full bloom.

I love the garden they have on top of the hill!
Door for property boarder. There is a lake outside.
I love these two stones. It is difficult for me to translate but it is traditional Chinese.
Kimchee pots.
There is a fountain outside of the house.
Locals drank from the fountain.
The front door of the house.
